Slippery Sneakers has performed at nationally known Zydeco festivals all over the country, including almost every dance festival in New England, always to wide acclaim. Additionally, the band has routinely broken attendance records at many of the monthly Zydeco dances held around the region of "southern" New England.
The Rhode Island based band formed in late 1998 with the goal of playing for the loyal and dedicated New England Cajun/Zydeco dance community as well as introducing Zydeco music to those unfamiliar with its unique sound featuring the accordion and rubboard. After only a few weeks together, they performed at an annual New Year's Day Zydeco dance party to an overwhelmingly appreciative, foot-stomping crowd. They've been "doing the Zydeco" ever since!
"Slippery Sneakers has an ideal up-beat Zydeco sound that is a crowd pleaser and a pleasure to dance to...even the other musicians stopped to watch Bob Leonard play the accordion" Gary Hayman-ZydE-Magic Cajun/Zydeco Website
"Slippery Sneakers..sounds like it should be blared from the speakers of a classic car"

Band leader Robert Graves Leonard (a.k.a. "Zydeco Bob") provides the soulful lead vocals and amazing accordion sounds that define the band. An accomplished musician, he has performed with many Louisiana bands including C.J. Chenier, Geno Delofose, Rosie Ledet and Lee Benoit. Bob is also an award winning singer/songwriter and Nashville recording artist, and contributes many original songs to the band.
Bob's accordion skills have made him a featured performer at festival accordion workshops, exhibiting side-by-side with master performers of the genre including Leroy Thomas and Cheryl Cormier.
In 2001, Bob completed and released a full length CD project of his all-original Zudeco material with many of the hottest Louisiana Zydeco musicians on the scene today. Recorded in Louisiana, Bob handpicked authentic musicians who have grown up surrounded by this special music and who play with well known nationally touring bands- in some , their own. The result is a wonderful showcase of talent to accompany what may someday be Zydeco hit standards.

Jack Moore on drums -- a well seasoned, and super solid "in-da-pocket" player, Jack is a veteran from the Boston music scene of the 1970's and the Austin, Texas scene of the 1980's, where he played with Jimmie Dale Gilmore in 1983, and the Tailgators in 1984.
In the 1990's Jack moved his base of operations to the Providence, Rhode Island area, playing for awhile with Roomful of Blues in 1998.
Now in the next century, Slippery Sneakers is pleased as punch to have Jack Moore on board!
